Remember the lava lamp? It was the ultimate symbol of 1960’s psychedelic counter culture with it’s bubbling, blurping (not sure that’s a word), rising and falling globs of we were never sure what. It makes you think of acid, mushrooms, and the Grateful Dead. Well, now you can make your very own lava lamp. It’s also a fun project for the kids, although I’d recommend keeping the paraphernalia on the down low. The tutorial uses cooking oil for the base, but if you want a clear base then an alternative is to use mineral oil.
